2021 SCEC Annual Meeting
The Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) is funded by cooperative agreements with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to develop a comprehensive understanding of earthquakes in Southern California and elsewhere, and to communicate useful knowledge for reducing earthquake risk. Additional support for SCEC activities is provided by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Department of Energy (DOE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), W. M. Keck Foundation, and other external sources and partnerships.
The 2021 SCEC Annual Meeting (aka “SCEC2021”) was held online September 12-17, 2021. (All presenters and attendees participated remotely.) At our annual collaboration meeting, members of the SCEC community gather to share recent research results, review project progress, and plan priorities for the SCEC collaboration to pursue in the next year.
The meeting program consisted of thematic plenary sessions that included invited talks, panel debates, and moderated discussions. The SCEC community was invited to share their recent results and activities in poster presentations. The online poster gallery, as well as live poster viewing sessions, facilitated online connections and collaborations. We expanded capabilities of the online meeting platform used in 2020 and added activities to improve the overall online experience and accessibility for meeting attendees.
