NEHRP Agency Coordination Workshop on the July 4-5, 2019 Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence

Conveners: Kate Scharer (USGS) and Luciana Astiz (NSF)
Date: September 8, 2019 (15:00 -16:30)
Location: Hilton Palm Springs Resort
Participants: Open to all SCEC2019 attendees

SUMMARY: The purpose of this workshop is to provide a venue for discussion of future research directions following the July 2019 Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence.  Participants across the NEHRP agencies (NSF, FEMA, NIST, USGS), state agencies (CGS),and stakeholders from the research community (e.g., SCEC, GEER, EERI, IRIS, UNAVCO) will contribute, with the aim of improving development and planning of research opportunities amongst earth scientists, engineers and social scientists.  As specified in the NERHP agency post-earthquake investigation plan (https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1242/), the outcome of the workshop is identification of significant research or development opportunities, and priorities for funding.

The workshop will start with a brief overview of activities conducted to date followed by short sessions lead by earth science, engineering, and social science disciplines.  Each session will include a brief statement of work completed and underway, followed by discussion of future directions and priorities. Please come ready to contribue ideas, ask quesitons, and seek new projects.
