Dear SCEC Community,
Please See the following (corrected) announcement:

On behalf of Timothy Dawson, California Geological Survey
Seismologist opportunity at the California Geological Survey
The CGS is looking for a geoscientist that has a strong background in applied geophysics and observational seismology. This seismologist will work collaboratively with the CGS Geologic Carbon Sequestration Group and CGS seismologists in our strong motion instrumentation program where we operate more than 10,000 seismic sensors throughout the state. The primary activities will be to: coordinate the connection of seismic monitoring arrays at carbon sequestration sites throughout the state to the California Integrated Seismic Network, and develop an approach to communicate to stakeholders both natural and induced seismicity; evaluate and locate micro-seismic data and perform analyses to determine the potential for additional or larger earthquakes; communicate risks to the state geologist and regulators; evaluate proposed monitoring systems and develop, deploy, and evaluate data from temporary monitoring arrays; perform independent seismic hazards and risk assessments.
A strong background in both observational seismology and seismic risk assessment is required.
This is a non-regulatory applied science position working in an emerging field for seismologists. It’s an amazing opportunity. For more information, see the link below:
