Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, limited travel funds are available to partially support US participants to attend the workshop. Priority will be given to students, postdocs, early career scientists, and those who will enhance diversity at the workshop.

Position for Earth Section Geodesy Researcher Assistant at UCSD
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego invites applications for a full-time Researcher position to be funded by extramural research grants and contracts in the area of Geodesy. We seek outstanding candidates with expertise in areas including marine and/or terrestrial geodesy, satellite geodesy, seafloor positioning, reference frames, processing and analysis of geodetic positions (e.g., GNSS, InSAR), modeling geophysical processes, time series analysis and data science (e.g., machine learning). The successful candidate will be distinguished by a deep understanding of geodetic methods and applications.
The Researcher series at Scripps Oceanography parallels the Professor series in terms of research and service, but it carries no teaching requirements. Researchers receive eleven-month appointments with 25% salary support from institutional sources but are expected to establish an externally funded research program that provides the remainder of their salary support. Researchers at Scripps often obtain educator appointments as well and serve as graduate student and postdoc advisors.

PhD Scholarships and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Ground Motion Simulation, Validation, and Applications
Overview: Two PhD scholarships and one postdoctoral fellowship is available for multiple topics associated with earthquake-induced ground-motion and site response prediction utilizing simulation-based methods. The overarching aim in all specific project instances is to advance understanding of ground-motion phenomena and predictive ability through hybrid broadband simulations. In some instances, this is directly through the use of simulations for seismic hazard analysis, and in other instances through the use of simulations to constrain empirical ground-motion models for parameter combinations that observational data are deficient. The projects are based at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, but PhD students will also interact with national and international collaborators. - Toward fully non-ergodic considerations in ground-motion simulation
- Validation of 3D ground-motion simulations at high frequencies
- Seismic hazard analysis using simulated ground motions
- Development of region-specific sedimentary basin models
- Coupling explicit site response analysis with ground-motion simulations
- Use of ground-motion simulations to constrain empirical model functional forms
PhD Scholarship Details: This scholarship includes a $35,000 NZD/year stipend (tax-free) and all university tuition and fees for the three-year duration of the PhD project.

Seismologist position:

Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze regional historical seismicity data
- Research regional tectonics, including fault structures and rupture mechanisms
- Develop magnitude-frequency relationships for seismic source zones and faults
- Develop smooth and background seismicity models
- Conduct post-event field surveys after major global events
Qualifications:
- PhD in Seismology or Geophysics with research relevant to seismic source modeling
- Knowledge of earthquake frequency parameters and experience with magnitude-frequency distributions
- Knowledge and experience in advanced probability and statistical methods
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, keen orientation to detail, an eye for professional presentation, and recognized organizational abilities
- Experience with Python desirable
- Ability to travel within the US or internationally with little advance notice
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.) is a plus
- Experience in catastrophe modeling a plus
- Knowledge of C# programming language a plus
