Update on Memorial Announcement for David Jackson

On March 30, UCLA Emeriti Professor, and SCEC Science Director (1996-1999), David Jackson passed away at his home. On June 28 at 6pm the UCLA EPSS department will hold a memorial for Dave at the UCLA Faculty Center, with speeches followed by a buffet dinner.

The National Science Foundation’s Division of Earth Sciences will hold a webinar for the Geophysics Program

Title: Navigating the NSF Geophysics Program 

When: June 14, 2023 03:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) 

Description: The Geophysics (PH) Program Directors will review the scope of the PH Program and other NSF relevant opportunities for the geophysics community in the context of recent changes within the program and new opportunities communicated by the Foundation through Dear Colleague Letters and new interdisciplinary programs, and a growing interest in increasing representation in the scientific enterprise. This webinar is organized in three parts:   

  • Scope of the Geophysics program
  • Types of proposals reviewed in PH and the Merit Review process
  • Tips for proposal preparation and other opportunities for geophysical research at NSF.
