San Francisco Bay region 3D velocity model workshop, Tuesday February 14th
We will be holding a San Francisco Bay region 3D geology and seismic velocity model workshop on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. This online workshop will run from 8:30am to 3:30pm Pacific Time. The workshop will feature a series of short talks about the San Francisco Bay region 3D velocity model and new datasets and studies that are helping to advance our knowledge of Northern California seismic velocity structure. A tentative agenda can be found below.

Short Course - All About Southern California Seismic & Earthquake Data: What's Available, How It's Made, and How to Access It
Are you working on or interested in Southern California seismicity? Would you like to know the ins and outs of Southern California Seismic Network (SCSN) data products? Do you want to optimize your data access?
We're holding a free half-day short course about SCSN/SCEDC products and services in association with the GAGE/SAGE meeting in March. This is a great opportunity for students and others who are new to Southern California seismic data and want to learn more about what we offer, as well as seasoned researchers who are looking for a more thorough understanding of SCSN/SCEDC products and services.
Participants will:
- Learn available SCSN data products
- Understand how the data products are generated and their parameters and limitations
- Be able to access SCSN data through SCEDC tools and services
General Agenda:
- SCSN data products
- earthquake catalog & event data (e.g., origins, moment tensors)
- waveform data
- DAS
- special data sets
- Accessing data products from the Southern California Earthquake Data Center (SCEDC)
- web services
- cloud access via Amazon Web Services
- directly in code (e.g., Python, Matlab) via FDSN tools and STP
- Discussion, practice, & free time
- Tutorials available and/or bring your own project
