Landers Anniversary Activities and Imagery Collection

The 30th anniversary of the Landers-Big Bear earthquake sequence is fast approaching!  Plans are afoot to commemorate the occasion with both public-facing events, including a webinar, and a (non-public-facing) 1/2-day tabletop response exercise on June 27.  One goal of the exercise is to strengthen interagency (USGS/SCEC) coordination.

A special session at the 2022 SCEC annual meeting has also been suggested: "30 years of earthquake science."

We also realize that the earthquake is woefully underrepresented in USGS and other public-domain photograph collections. 

If you are interested in participating in the response exercise, or if you have old images or slides gathering dust that you would like preserved in a durable archive, please contact Sue Hough (hough@usgs.gov).
