Re: Call for Papers - PAGEOPH Topical Volume “Best Practices in Physics-based Fault Rupture Models for Seismic Hazard Assessment of Nuclear Installations: issues and challenges towards full Seismic Risk Analysis”

Date: 07/20/2018

On Behalf of Luis Dalguer, Aichi Institute of Technology, Japan:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite submissions for a special issue of Pure and Applied Geophysics (PAGEOPH), entitled “Best Practices in Physics-based Fault Rupture Models for Seismic Hazard Assessment of Nuclear Installations: issues and challenges towards full Seismic Risk Analysis”. We aim to gather works from seismologists and earthquake engineers, from practitioners to earthquake scientists, on aspects related to ground motion models for seismic hazard assessment (SHA) and the engineering applications of simulated-based ground motion inputs, covering three main topics: 1) Current practice on the use of empirical ground motion prediction models for SHA in nuclear installations; 2) Physics-based rupture models: the role of stochastic, kinematic and dynamic rupture modes in SHA; 3) Engineering issues that rely on ground motion estimates for soil structure interaction, structural response and fragility curve analysis for quantification of seismic vulnerability of structures.

While the issue will mainly include works presented in the BestPSHANI 2018 Workshop (http://www.institut-seism.fr/en/2nd-workshop-best-psha-ni-may-2018-cadar...), held in Cadarache-Château, France, 14-16 May 2018, we also encourage other submissions that are relevant to the topics defined above, with strong emphasis placed on practical applications and tailored to seismic hazard and risk assessments of nuclear installations.
All submissions will be subject to the PAGEOPH peer review process. Please submit your paper by going to: https://www.editorialmanager.com/paag/default.aspx, then register as an author and select “Report-Top.Vol. BestPSHANI 2018” as the article type.
Instructions for authors and a submission tutorial can be found at:
http://www.springer.com/birkhauser/geo+science/journal/24.
The submission deadline is October 1st, 2018. Papers will be published individually online shortly after being accepted. The combined manuscripts will be published both as a topical issue of the journal PAGEOPH and Book Reprint later. There is no page limit per manuscript, but the length of the article should be justified by its content.
If you are considering submitting a manuscript, we kindly ask you to email a tentative title and authors list to Luis A. Dalguer (luis.dalguer@alumni.ethz.ch ) as soon as possible.

Want to send an announcement to the SCEC community?
SCEC community announcement requests should be sent to scecinfo@usc.edu (no attachments) with the following requirements, in order to best standardize announcements and provide maximum security for recipients. These requirements also ensure that various email applications and any applied filters reach the recipient as the announcement was intended.
1) Use this style guide :
• All text must be in Helvetica, 12 pt.
• Bold, italics, and underline formatting is permitted.
• Consider the length of web links; use bit.ly or tinyurl.com to shorten them as needed.
• NO PDFs, Word Docs, images, or other attachments - all content must be in the email request itself.
2) Include a subject line.

3) Remember, send your request to scecinfo@usc.edu.

We strive to send announcements as soon as possible. In general, expect a 2-3 business day turn-around. We may also combine announcements with others, delay sending certain announcements due to current events, and even reject requests if they do not fit the needs of the SCEC community.
