Job opening announcement forwarded from Darren Myers, UNAVCO:
UNAVCO seeks a full-time Permit Manager to lead a small permitting team in support of the PBO and other continuous geodetic networks across the Americas and the globe.
For more than a decade, UNAVCO, Inc. has spearheaded the use of cutting-edge technology to provide robust operational and observational support for researchers exploring the lithospheric processes (e.g. earthquakes, volcanoes, plate motion), the dynamics and influence of Earth’s cryosphere, the Earth’s response to changes in ground water volume and distribution, sea level change and other aspects of the hydrosphere and atmosphere. UNAVCO built and operates the Plate Boundary Observatory, the geodetic component of EarthScope, named “The Universe’s Most Epic Project” by Popular Science in 2011. Our instrumentation toolbox includes high precision geodetic GPS/GNSS, Terrestrial LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) and other techniques. As a Large Facility of the National Science Foundation, we operate the US national geodesy Data Center on behalf of NSF and provide cyber infrastructure to support the full data life cycle and interoperability with other national and international Earth science data centers. UNAVCO also supports focused programs in education and workforce development for geosciences.
Our long-term success depends on development of a forward-looking, diversified workforce that draws on and cultivates talent across the demographic spectrum of gender and ethnicity, across international boundaries, and across scientific disciplines.
