The George H. and Anne B. Deike Endowed Chair in Mining Engineering
 
The John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (EME; http://www.eme.psu.edu) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a faculty position at the full professor level in Mining Engineering. The successful candidate will hold the George H. and Anne B. Deike Endowed Chair in Mining Engineering. We seek candidates who have demonstrated an excellent record of scholarship, consistent with appointment with tenure at the rank of Professor. Requirements include a doctoral degree in mining engineering or related field and demonstrated teaching and research experience in underground mining, mine safety, sustainability, or mine environment. Applicants with a professional engineering license are desirable. Candidates are expected to have an excellent record of peer-reviewed publications, an externally funded research program, relevant teaching experience, and a history of leadership in scholarly service to their community. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, supervise graduate students at the MS and PhD levels, pursue a world-class research program in her/his area of specialization, and provide leadership in expanding the Mining Engineering program.
 
EME is a unique interdisciplinary department that is home to Penn State’s undergraduate degree programs in Energy Business and Finance, Energy Engineering, Energy and Sustainability Policy, Environmental Systems Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. The department also offers MS and PhD degrees in Energy and Mineral Engineering with options focusing on the program areas.
