International Summer School on Earthquake Science: Application deadline soon

International summer school on the Diversity of Earthquakes The Earthquake Research Institute of the University of Tokyo (ERI) and the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) are holding a joint, international summer school on earthquake science September 23-27, 2013 in Hakone, Japan. This is the first installment of planned series of similar summer schools on earthquake science in the future. We encourage Ph.D. students and post-docs in all related fields of Earth science to participate. Detailed information and application material is posted at http://www.eri.u-tokyo.ac.jp/iSSEs2013 PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for applications is July 15, 2013. The theme of this year's school is "Diversity of Earthquakes", and three sessions on "huge earthquakes", "transient phenomena", and "fault zones" are planned. There will be ~15 keynote lecturers from leading scientists from various research fields including geophysics, seismology, geodesy and geology, with shorter presentations (and posters) by participants. We anticipate to be able to accommodate ~40 Ph.D. students or post-docs from the international community.
