Research Position in Seismology at ETH Zurich, Switzerland

The Swiss Seismological Service (SED) at ETH Zurich, Switzerland (www.seismo.ethz.ch), is seeking applications for the position of a research seismologist at a junior or intermediate level. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that can bridge theoretical and observational aspects of seismology on local and regional scales, with expertise in several of the following areas: Waveform modeling, automated moment-tensor analysis, computational seismology, source quantification, seismometry and data mining.
Candidates must have a PhD in geophysics or a related field. She or he is expected to participate in teaching at the Institute of Geophysics, ETH Zurich, to supervise Master and PhD students, as well as to participate in the routine data processing and alarm duties of the SED. Excellent knowledge of modern programming languages as well as shell-scripting in a Unix/Linux environment are an important requirement. Working languages are English and German.
