Fall AGU Meeting Session T24: High Resolution Imaging of Active Fault Zone

Dear Colleagues,

We encourage you to submit an abstract to session T24: "High Resolution Imaging of Active Fault Zone Structures" to be held at the 2007 Fall AGU Meeting (10-14 December, 2007) in San Francisco, CA. The goal of this session is to bring together experts from across many disciplines to discuss the current state of knowledge of fault zone structure and properties. In particular, we hope to highlight studies that use innovative techniques to create high-resolution fault zone images and/or monitor the spatio-temporal evolution of the properties of active fault zones.

Description:
Large earthquakes occur on complex fault zone structures. Accurate resolution of internal fault zone properties at seismogenic depths has important implications for many aspects of earthquake physics. The purpose of this session is to present innovative methods on high-resolution imaging and monitoring of the spatio-temporal evolution of active fault zone structures. We welcome studies using techniques from all disciplines, including surface geology, geodesy, downhole measurements, laboratory studies on fault zone rocks and fluids, and seismology.
