SUMMARY: A workshop on the SCEC Community Rheology Modeling (CRM) initiative entitled “Loading of Southern California Faults: Bulk Lithospheric Deformation and/or Localized Ductile Shear Zone Strain” will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, in Palm Springs, CA. The goal of the workshop is to assess the degree to which current deformation is concentrated on or near faults or distributed more broadly across the Pacific-North America plate boundary in southern California. We encourage participation by scientists with expertise in (1) southern California geology, (2) laboratory rock mechanics, (3) tectonic geodesy, (4) seismology and (5) deformation modeling. Limited funds are available for travel support, with priority for students, early career scientists.
All potential CRM contributors and users are welcome and attendees should be prepared to take an active role in the proceedings!
Presentation slides may be downloaded by clicking the links following the title. PLEASE NOTE: Files are the author’s property. They may contain unpublished or preliminary information and should only be used while viewing the talk.
